Eliseo Serrano joins PONY's International Board of Directors

Before getting involved in PONY, Eliseo Serrano was very familiar with baseball. Serrano was drafted in North New Jersey to the Baltimore Orioles. He played three years in the minors before having a career ending injury.

After the career ending injury, he lived in North New Jersey for 20 years before moving back to Puerto Rico.

Once in Puerto Rico, Eliseo trained and became a police officer. In his free time Serrano would play a pickup game of baseball. Baseball still played a big part of his life.

Having a family, Serrano wanted his son to follow in his footsteps. His son started to play baseball, and this is where he was introduced into PONY. Serrano has been with PONY for more than 10 years.

Eliseo Serrano participated in his first International Board of Directors meeting this past month and loved every minute of it.

“I want to be the voice of Caribbean Zone,” Serrano said. “I want everything possible for the Caribbean Zone and I want us to achieve great things. Having a voice at the International Board of Directors meeting is a huge stepping stone for us. I will give my position all of my attention to make us great!”

His goal for 2020 is to recruit and have more teams join PONY in all age groups!

“Baseball has been a big part of my life,” Serrano said. “Baseball led me to PONY, and I want to do as much as I can to give back.”
