In Pool B, defending champion Paradera, Aruba likewise finished the with two victories, first 15-9 over Sparta, Illinois and second 14-4 over Manila, Philippines. Aruba became the top team of Pool B. Salem, Paradera, Panama, Sparta and Herrin, Illinois claimed the Pinto division’s top-five seeds, in order, for Saturday’s semifinal round.

Mustang 9U

The first three games to start the day Friday in the Mustang 9U division were one-sided, but the day’s final two games were much more competitive. The Marion SI Bullets defeated the Mt. Vernon, Illinois Dirt Dawgs 4-0 thanks to some incredible defense. The Bullets held the Dirt Dawgs to just four hits (all singles) and reached base twice due to errors in the contest. Landon Boyd’s two-run home run in the bottom of the first proved to be all of the runs the Bullets needed. Additionally in the first inning, David Craig knocked in a run on a single. Grayson Liefer scored Bentley Cameron in the bottom of the fifth, when Liefer reached on an error, completing the scoring for the game. To end the day, Salem outlasted the Shanghai, China Force in a shootout 18-13. Salem pulled away late in the game with four runs in the top of the sixth, thanks in large part to Kai Graham’s RBI double and Bentley Bryan’s two-RBI double in back-to-back at-bats. Shanghai put two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth, but a fly out ended the game.

Day two begins today at Noon CT/US with the Mustang division championship game scheduled for 5 p.m. You can follow all of the games live on GameChanger by going here.
