PONY Alumni Feature: Alek Manoah

For Alek Manoah, junior starting pitcher for the West Virginia University baseball team, the ball fields at Tamiami Youth Baseball were a second home, while growing up in Miami, Florida. He recalls "the best days of his life," playing PONY Baseball, while he and his brother Erik would cheer each other on, bouncing back-and-forth from field-to-field to watch the other play. Manoah led his Tamiami team to the 2008 Mustang World Series title by going undefeated 5-0 and pitching a complete game shutout of Valencia (William S. Hart), California in the championship game. Today, he's one of the most feared hurlers in Division I, averaging nearly eight strikeouts per appearance. Preseason, Manoah was named an All-American by two different national publications and a player to watch on the short list for USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award for being the top player in college baseball.
